Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Collection (Kohl’s Exclusive) Product Review

Before I get back to going through my endless amount of sub boxes, I wanted to post one more product review. This is about the new Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Collection which is a Kohl’s exclusive. As soon as I saw this collection I was WOWED and I knew that I NEEDED to purchase it immediately. That’s exactly what I did! As soon as I saw the set make its way onto the floor I picked one up and told my Beauty Advisory that I would be purchasing it at the end of my shift!

1

The gold packaging on the lipstick is limited edition to this set only. This set is valued at $80 but is priced to sell for $35! Individually, these lipsticks cost $16 each.

2

From Left to Right – Duchess, Seductress, Vixen, Free Spirit, and CEO. They smell exactly like a Mac lipstick. It’s a very vanilla-y scent that I absolutely love.

3

These are matte finish lipsticks. Some say that they find them drying. I feel like they are comparable to the Mac lipsticks I own. They go on creamy and stay for probably three to four hours before a reapplication is needed. The only color I am not completely in love with is Free Spirirt (the purple) because I feel like it’s a color I can’t really pull off… Although I will still probably wear it!

This Saturday (March 7th) Kohl’s stores will be offering 10% off Prestige beauty items, this set will be included. So make sure you run to your closest Kohl’s to snatch up these beauties!

NYX Cosmetics Spring Lippies

So sorry for the two week hiatus. I was extremely busy with work and perusing a second job!

Now I’m back and ready to review two brand new lippies from the NYX Cosmetics Spring line. NYX put out several new products this Spring but the two that attracted me the most were the new Intense Butter Gloss and the High Voltage Lipstick. Naturally, I purchased one of each!

1

2

The Intense Butter Gloss in Napoleon is highly pigmented and super creamy. It had a wear time of about two hours without the color fading. I love the color, but I’m just not a gloss kind of girl. The High Voltage Lipstick in Sweet 16 is a very subtle pink. I didn’t know it would be so close to my natural lip color or I would have purchased a different color. This lipstick definitely wears longer, but I have a feeling it’s less pigmented. Although I do love both, I think I’ll have to stick with my NYX Butter Lipsticks!

Both are $5.99 at Ulta. The Intense Butter Gloss comes in 12 different shades. The High Voltage Lipstick comes in 22 different shades.

Wantable – January 2015

I found a this-is-too-good-to-be-true deal a few weeks back where I was able to get the Wantable Box for only… DRUM ROLL PLEASE… FIVE DOLLARS!!! If you know subscription boxes, you know that this box runs for $36!!! I just could not let that deal go! So, I signed up immediately for both the Makeup and Intimates box!

1

Yay! They arrived within a week, which is beyond crazy! So here is what I got:

3

Let’s start with the makeup, shall we?!

I love the eyeshadow. It’s a beautiful green tinted brown. It works well for everyday wear. I’ve been wearing the complexion powder pretty frequently in place of foundation because it is super light. I had been dying to try Frankie Rose for a while, so I loved seeing the eye pencil in my box. It leaves really crisp, clean lines! The Lord & Berry lipstick pencil is gorgeous! It’s a perfect pale pink and is so creamy! I really loved my box! Overall, the retail of this box would have been $81! Since I only paid $5, I literally feel like I stole these products! Even for $36 the value is pretty darn good! I hadn’t planned to continue a subscription with Wantable, but I think I am for the makeup!

2

I wasn’t exactly “impressed” with my intimates box, but I also didn’t hate it. I really wish I hadn’t received a shapewear tank because that isn’t something I really need. Also, the bra and undies both weren’t made of the best quality, in my opinion. I definitely think I will be sticking with my Victoria’s Secret. This box would retail for roughly $79. I can’t locate an exact price on the tank. I wasn’t planning to keep this box either, but I posted it to the Wantable app and won a free box for the month of February! So I’ll keep it for now. Maybe I’ll like my next box more!

Wantable is semi-customizable. You’re given a bunch of categories and options and they cater the box to your liking!

All in all, I have to say that the makeup box is fantastic. All four products are high end and definitely worth the price tag of $36. As of right now, I wouldn’t recommend the intimates box, but if you’re looking for something different it may be a good starting point!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara Product Review

Last week, I received an exclusive e-mail coupon from Ulta for a free deluxe sample size of the Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Mascara! I was thrilled to try this product out ever since I had heard about it. I love the Benefit They’re Real mascara so I figured that the Roller Lash had to be just as good. I was wrong… It’s even better!!!

1

This mascara is amazing! It is pretty similar to the They’re Real mascara when it comes to length and volume. However, the formula is much lighter! The They’re Real is pretty heavy and works really well for a strong eye make-up look (like a smokey eye). Most of the time I go for a more natural look, and this mascara is great for that. It just makes my natural lashes stand out more. Another thing I LOVE about the Roller Lash is that it removes SO EASILY!!! I was shocked! They’re Real takes ages to work off my eyes, but the Roller Lash comes off just as easily as my eyeshadow does! I am thoroughly impressed with this product! Here is a photo of my eyeball! All I’m wearing in this photo is the Roller Lash mascara (so please ignore my disgusting dark under eyes).

2

I’m definitely in love with this mascara!

This product releases on February 27th! The full size will be $24, and I’m assuming the travel size will be about $10. I would definitely recommend that you all try this product!

Marbles for Polish, mani of the moment!

As we all know, I am really big into nail polish (as seen by my abundance of Julep orders). Along with my Julep addiction, I have a slight addiction to Indie polish. Indies are polishes made my small independent companies. Most of the time, these polishes come from one or two single people who formulate, create, market, and sell their own product straight from their homes. One of my favorite Indie brands is Marbles for Polish!

These two polishes that I will be featuring today are from Marbles for Polish. The one is a OOAK (One of a Kind) and the other is a group custom polish made specifically for the company’s Facebook group, Marbles For Polish and More, called Keepsies.

12

The polish on the left is the OOAK. It is a multichrome. The color of this polish shifts from a dark blue, to green, to purple, depending on the way the light hits it. The polish on the right is the group custom, Keepsies. It is a gorgeous teal holo! I am loving both so much! (Please ignore the old, gross mani in the picture of the bottles!)

Here is the finished product of my mani! OOAK, with an accent of Keepsies!

3

I highly recommend that you check out Marbles for Polish! I know for a fact that she has some really amazing collections coming out shortly, and I would hate to see you all miss out!

Glossybox – January 2015

After my disappointing box last month, I decided to cancel Glossybox. However, I somehow still received my January box… But was never charged! No clue how it happened, but here is my January Glossybox!

1

  • Skin&Co Roma Sicilian Light Serum ($47 for the full size)
  • Teeez Trendy Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Brush Stiff ($23.50)
  • Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner ($13.30)
  • Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser ($19.50 for the full size)
  • Lollipops Eye Pencil in Goodbye Moon ($17.00)

4

Skin&Co Roma Sicilian Light Serum

Skincare products I won’t use!

2

Tweeez Trendy Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Brush Stiff

This brush is really stiff! At first I thought that I would hate that, however I actually enjoy it! It makes applying eye shadow easier almost. It helped with fall out issues as well. I wouldn’t use it as a blending brush though.

6

Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner

I may actually give this little guy a shot seeing as how I do not use toner currently.

5

Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser

I have heard good things about this brand, however I don’t think it will work with my skin.

3

Lollipops Eye Pencil in Goodbye Moon

This is a black eye pencil. I probably wouldn’t have minded receiving this products, except for the fact that I have received half a dozen black pencils in the past month or so in various sub boxes. I do think the packaging is adorable though!

All in all, I am still unimpressed with Glossybox and I’m glad I didn’t pay for this box!

Julep – February 2015 – The Afterglow Collection

Julep’s monthly boxes are always my favorite time of the month. I love getting all the goodies from them!

Julep is a beauty subscription box. For $24.99 a month (or $19.99 for a three-month pre-paid subscription), you’ll receive three full sized products, catered to your beauty profile.

Also, you can click here to receive your first box for 50% off with the code WOW!

The February collection was titled the Afterglow Collection, featuring 10 new polishes, a “special gift” polish from Jane Park, a new eye brightener, glow highlighting powder, a fan brush, and two new lipgloss shades.

Here’s what I got:

1

I received the “Boho Glam” box (in the small purple box).

As Add-ons I received:

Here are the polishes:

3

From L to R: Hazel, Brandis, Hartleigh, Ada, Meta trio – Tilda, Bjork, Tyra

Here’s the make-up:

2

From L to R: Glow Highlighting Powder, Fan brush, Illume Eye Brightener, Blank Canvas face primer

My total for this month was $56. The retail of everything I received is $270!!! The Maven pricing would have been $216. I think that makes $56 an absolute steal!

I love my box yet again. Julep just seems to take all my money these days!

Walmart Winter Beauty Box

Just like Target, Walmart puts out a seasonal beauty box. This one is considered a subscription with a re-occurring charge every three months. You can sign up here at any time! Price for this baby is $7 ($5 plus $2 shipping)!

Here’s what I got:

1

  • Jergens BB Body Correcting Skin Cream Sample ($11.97 for the full size)
  • Maybelline  Color Sensational Lip Stick in full size ($5.50)
  • Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off! Make Up Removal Wet Clothes Sample ($3.97 for the deluxe sample)
  • Nivea Coco Butter Body Lotion Sample Packet and $1 off coupon
  • L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Oil Infused Shampoo and Conditioner Samples ($5.97 for the full size)
  • Maybelline $1 off Dream Wonder Foundation coupon

4

Jergens BB Body Correcting Skin Cream

This smells awful. Way too perfume-y for my liking.

6

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Stick in Maple Kiss

I love this lipstick. The color is beautiful. It also wears really well. It’s a great dark neutral color.

5

Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off! Make Up Removal Wet Cloths

I gave these to my sister. She already uses and loves these. I figured I would share the love!

3

L’Oreal Oleo-Therapy Oil Infused Shampoo and Conditioner

I actually love these. They really hydrate and make my hair shine!

2

Coupons/ Sample packets: Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder and Nivea Coco Butter Body Lotion

All in all, I guess this box is worth it because the lipstick is worth over $5. I am disappointed considering how amazing the Fall beauty box was. Here’s to hoping the Spring box is better!

Target Men’s Winter Box

As a little treat and early Christmas present to my boyfriend… I mean fiance!!! (A month later and I’m still  not used to that!) I purchased the Target Men’s Winter (not so beauty???) box! I won’t be reviewing this because I obviously haven’t used the products myself and he is not the “reviewing” type, but I’ll show you what we got in it!

1

This box was sold for $5. I estimate the retail to be around $20. I think my fiance was pretty impressed, and happy, that I had gotten this for him!
