NYX Cosmetics Spring Lippies

So sorry for the two week hiatus. I was extremely busy with work and perusing a second job!

Now I’m back and ready to review two brand new lippies from the NYX Cosmetics Spring line. NYX put out several new products this Spring but the two that attracted me the most were the new Intense Butter Gloss and the High Voltage Lipstick. Naturally, I purchased one of each!

The Intense Butter Gloss in Napoleon is highly pigmented and super creamy. It had a wear time of about two hours without the color fading. I love the color, but I’m just not a gloss kind of girl. The High Voltage Lipstick in Sweet 16 is a very subtle pink. I didn’t know it would be so close to my natural lip color or I would have purchased a different color. This lipstick definitely wears longer, but I have a feeling it’s less pigmented. Although I do love both, I think I’ll have to stick with my NYX Butter Lipsticks!

Both are $5.99 at Ulta. The Intense Butter Gloss comes in 12 different shades. The High Voltage Lipstick comes in 22 different shades.

Wantable – January 2015

I found a this-is-too-good-to-be-true deal a few weeks back where I was able to get the Wantable Box for only… DRUM ROLL PLEASE… FIVE DOLLARS!!! If you know subscription boxes, you know that this box runs for $36!!! I just could not let that deal go! So, I signed up immediately for both the Makeup and Intimates box!

Yay! They arrived within a week, which is beyond crazy! So here is what I got:

Let’s start with the makeup, shall we?!

I love the eyeshadow. It’s a beautiful green tinted brown. It works well for everyday wear. I’ve been wearing the complexion powder pretty frequently in place of foundation because it is super light. I had been dying to try Frankie Rose for a while, so I loved seeing the eye pencil in my box. It leaves really crisp, clean lines! The Lord & Berry lipstick pencil is gorgeous! It’s a perfect pale pink and is so creamy! I really loved my box! Overall, the retail of this box would have been $81! Since I only paid $5, I literally feel like I stole these products! Even for $36 the value is pretty darn good! I hadn’t planned to continue a subscription with Wantable, but I think I am for the makeup!

I wasn’t exactly “impressed” with my intimates box, but I also didn’t hate it. I really wish I hadn’t received a shapewear tank because that isn’t something I really need. Also, the bra and undies both weren’t made of the best quality, in my opinion. I definitely think I will be sticking with my Victoria’s Secret. This box would retail for roughly $79. I can’t locate an exact price on the tank. I wasn’t planning to keep this box either, but I posted it to the Wantable app and won a free box for the month of February! So I’ll keep it for now. Maybe I’ll like my next box more!

Wantable is semi-customizable. You’re given a bunch of categories and options and they cater the box to your liking!

All in all, I have to say that the makeup box is fantastic. All four products are high end and definitely worth the price tag of $36. As of right now, I wouldn’t recommend the intimates box, but if you’re looking for something different it may be a good starting point!

Marbles for Polish, mani of the moment!

As we all know, I am really big into nail polish (as seen by my abundance of Julep orders). Along with my Julep addiction, I have a slight addiction to Indie polish. Indies are polishes made my small independent companies. Most of the time, these polishes come from one or two single people who formulate, create, market, and sell their own product straight from their homes. One of my favorite Indie brands is Marbles for Polish!

These two polishes that I will be featuring today are from Marbles for Polish. The one is a OOAK (One of a Kind) and the other is a group custom polish made specifically for the company’s Facebook group, Marbles For Polish and More, called Keepsies.

The polish on the left is the OOAK. It is a multichrome. The color of this polish shifts from a dark blue, to green, to purple, depending on the way the light hits it. The polish on the right is the group custom, Keepsies. It is a gorgeous teal holo! I am loving both so much! (Please ignore the old, gross mani in the picture of the bottles!)

Here is the finished product of my mani! OOAK, with an accent of Keepsies!

I highly recommend that you check out Marbles for Polish! I know for a fact that she has some really amazing collections coming out shortly, and I would hate to see you all miss out!

Glossybox – January 2015

After my disappointing box last month, I decided to cancel Glossybox. However, I somehow still received my January box… But was never charged! No clue how it happened, but here is my January Glossybox!

  • Skin&Co Roma Sicilian Light Serum ($47 for the full size)
  • Teeez Trendy Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Brush Stiff ($23.50)
  • Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner ($13.30)
  • Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser ($19.50 for the full size)
  • Lollipops Eye Pencil in Goodbye Moon ($17.00)

Skin&Co Roma Sicilian Light Serum

Skincare products I won’t use!

Tweeez Trendy Cosmetics Beautiful Flat Brush Stiff

This brush is really stiff! At first I thought that I would hate that, however I actually enjoy it! It makes applying eye shadow easier almost. It helped with fall out issues as well. I wouldn’t use it as a blending brush though.

Kueshi Revitalizing Face Toner

I may actually give this little guy a shot seeing as how I do not use toner currently.

Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser

I have heard good things about this brand, however I don’t think it will work with my skin.

Lollipops Eye Pencil in Goodbye Moon

This is a black eye pencil. I probably wouldn’t have minded receiving this products, except for the fact that I have received half a dozen black pencils in the past month or so in various sub boxes. I do think the packaging is adorable though!

All in all, I am still unimpressed with Glossybox and I’m glad I didn’t pay for this box!

Julep – February 2015 – The Afterglow Collection

Julep’s monthly boxes are always my favorite time of the month. I love getting all the goodies from them!

Julep is a beauty subscription box. For $24.99 a month (or $19.99 for a three-month pre-paid subscription), you’ll receive three full sized products, catered to your beauty profile.

Also, you can click here to receive your first box for 50% off with the code WOW!

The February collection was titled the Afterglow Collection, featuring 10 new polishes, a “special gift” polish from Jane Park, a new eye brightener, glow highlighting powder, a fan brush, and two new lipgloss shades.

Here’s what I got:

I received the “Boho Glam” box (in the small purple box).

As Add-ons I received:

Here are the polishes:

From L to R: Hazel, Brandis, Hartleigh, Ada, Meta trio – Tilda, Bjork, Tyra

Here’s the make-up:

From L to R: Glow Highlighting Powder, Fan brush, Illume Eye Brightener, Blank Canvas face primer

My total for this month was $56. The retail of everything I received is $270!!! The Maven pricing would have been $216. I think that makes $56 an absolute steal!

I love my box yet again. Julep just seems to take all my money these days!

Target Men’s Winter Box

As a little treat and early Christmas present to my boyfriend… I mean fiance!!! (A month later and I’m still  not used to that!) I purchased the Target Men’s Winter (not so beauty???) box! I won’t be reviewing this because I obviously haven’t used the products myself and he is not the “reviewing” type, but I’ll show you what we got in it!

This box was sold for $5. I estimate the retail to be around $20. I think my fiance was pretty impressed, and happy, that I had gotten this for him!

Target Women’s Winter All Natural Box

When Target released their Winter beauty boxes, they put out a “Naturally Festive” box with all natural products!

Here’s what I got:

  • SoapBox Argan Shampoo (Target Exclusive – $7.95 for the four piece travel kit)
  • Skinfix Hand Repair Cream (Target Exclusive – $17.99 for the full size)
  • Burt’s Bees Facial Wipes ($4.49 for the full size)
  • SheaMoisture Coconut Hibiscus Smoothie ($3.99)
  • Borghese Age Defying Facial Scrub (Target Exclusive – $16 for the full size)
  • Acure Organics Facial Cleanser ($9.99 for the full size)
  • $3 off a natural beauty purchase of $15 or more coupon

SoapBox Argan Shampoo

This item has a bit of a story behind it. When I received my box, this bottle of SoapBox shampoo was open. It had leaked out onto my other products. I instagrammed my box, and mentioned that the shampoo had leaked. SoapBox messaged my on Instagram and offered to send me the travel kit (second picture) absolutely free! They absolutely did not need to do that and I was thrilled that they took such a great initiative to do that. The travel kit includes argan oil body wash, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. They smell amazing, although I have not used them yet.

SkinFix Hand Repair Cream

I used this cream once (before falling in LoOoove with my repair cream that came in my PopSugar). It did seem to hydrate my dry hands pretty well.

Burt’s Bees Facial Wipes

This is one of those facial products that I am just overly nervous to use. I love my current makeup wipes and am afraid to switch products!

Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Smoothie for Hair

I haven’t tried this product yet!

Borghese Age Defying Facial Scrub

I haven’t used this one either!

Acure Organics Facial Cleanser

I haven’t used this either, but it smells really good!

All in all, I purchased this box for $5. None of these products were full sized. I do estimate the retail value to be about $15-20. It’s definitely not a bad price tag, especially if you just want to try out new products!

Target Women’s Winter Beauty Box

Let’s see, third times a charm to get this finished and posted – right?! I hate when life gets in the way of my blog!

Target has a seasonal beauty box. I had received the fall box, and was able to snag the Winter box! This time around, Target put out a Men’s and an all-natural box! I got all three for $20! Not a bad deal!

Here is my review on the Women’s Beauty Box:

  • Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen (Target Exclusive) ($12)
  • Revlon HD Lacquer ($7.99)
  • Hair Food Thickening Solution (Target Exclusive) ($11.99)
  • L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara ($7.99)
  • CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Kit ($4.49)
  • ChapStick Total Hydration Lip Care (Target Exclusive) ($2.99)
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (Target Exclusive) ($23; full size)
  • Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum ($17.49-23.99; full size)
  • 20% off Women’s Apparel purchase coupon
  • $3 off a $15 more Beauty Department purchase coupon

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir

I actually haven’t used this pencil yet, however I did swatch it and it looks like it will blend really well when I do get around to using it!

Revlon HD Lacquer in Garnet

I really love this color. It is a dark pink. However, I’m just not a fan of glosses!

Hair Food Thickening Solution

So far I haven’t used this product either. I haven’t had a hair cut in a while, until yesterday. Now that all my dead ends are gone I might try this little guy out!

L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara

I haven’t used this yet either. I’m super slacking on the reviews for this box!

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Kit in Blushing Nudes

I love this little guy. I’ve kept it in my makeup bag for “on the run” makeup looks and love it. The pigmentation is surprisingly impressive. (Or my primer is the bomb – which it is… {Bare Minerals 5-in-1 Eye Primer})

ChapStick Total Hydration 3-in-1 Lip Care in Sweet Peach

I also set this one aside for now. I have enough chapstick open right now!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

This is a sample size of this product. I actually hadn’t planned on using this until I just looked it up on Target’s website. It is a gel (rather than a cream) which is better for acne control (so I was told). Maybe I will give it a shot after all!

Boots No.7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Anti-Aging Serum

This went into the “save for later” pile!

The retail value of this box is $47.45. I didn’t include the two sample sizes because they don’t have a true “retail value”. I only spent $10 on this box, so I feel as though this was a great box!

I’ll keep everyone posted the next time the Target box goes up!

Starlooks Starbox January 2015

I’m so incredibly in love with the Starlooks Starbox. I think this will slowly be becoming my favorite sub box of the year! It’s $17.68 per month, and you’re guaranteed at least $35 worth of product, usually 3-4 items.

Here’s what I got in my second box:

  • Lipstick in Marsala ($14)
  • Kohl Eye Liner in Chestnut ($16)
  • Lip Brush ($22)
  • *Malibu SoapWorks All Natural Brush Cleaner in Young Coconut ($10)

Starlooks Lipstick in Marsala

Marsala is the Pantone Color of the Year 2015! Now, I’ll have a lipstick to go with this color! It’s a beautiful color and I cannot wait to wear it.

Starlooks Kohl Eye Liner in Chestnut

I first got into Starlooks because of an eye liner I had received in an Ipsy Glam Bag. This eye liner oes not disappoint either! It definitely lives up to my expectations.

Starlooks Lip Brush

I have been desperately in need of a lip brush, and it just so happened to fall into my lap with this box! This brush is super soft and I know it’ll make lipstick application a heck of a lot easier.

Malibu SoapWorkers All Natural Brush Cleaner in Young Coconut

Starlooks partnered with the Malibu SoapWorks company for this addiction to the box. It smells great, an is made of a lot of natural oils. I’m really excited to try this out… Which reminds me, I need to wash my brushes!

The total retail of this box comes to $62! I paid a third of the retail value!

One thing I really want to point out about Starlooks is that their makeup is 100% cruelty free. I’ve really been trying to get into cruelty free brands!

Starlooks Starbox December 2014

A few months back, I had received a Starlooks eyeliner in one of my Ipsy bags. I absolutely love the liner. I decided to look up Starlooks to see what other products they have… and then it happened. I found it. They have a subscription box! Naturally, being the subscription addict that I am, I signed up immediately. It is called the Starbox and cost is $17.68 per month ($15, plus $2.68 shipping).

Here is what I got in my first month’s box:

First of all, adorable packing!

15 Shade Pro Eye Shadow Palette ($99 value)

When I first opened it up to see this palette, I thought “really? These colors are awful and I’ll never use them!” Boy, I was SO wrong! I absolutely love this palette. The pigmentation is amazing and they wear really well. I received this just in time for Christmas to I used the red and green shadows pretty often! For the retail of this palette to be $99, paying $17 was definitely worth it! They have other palettes that are similar to this one and I definitely wish I could purchase those for $17!

I would highly recommend checking the Starlooks Starbox out!
