NYX Cosmetics Spring Lippies

So sorry for the two week hiatus. I was extremely busy with work and perusing a second job!

Now I’m back and ready to review two brand new lippies from the NYX Cosmetics Spring line. NYX put out several new products this Spring but the two that attracted me the most were the new Intense Butter Gloss and the High Voltage Lipstick. Naturally, I purchased one of each!

The Intense Butter Gloss in Napoleon is highly pigmented and super creamy. It had a wear time of about two hours without the color fading. I love the color, but I’m just not a gloss kind of girl. The High Voltage Lipstick in Sweet 16 is a very subtle pink. I didn’t know it would be so close to my natural lip color or I would have purchased a different color. This lipstick definitely wears longer, but I have a feeling it’s less pigmented. Although I do love both, I think I’ll have to stick with my NYX Butter Lipsticks!

Both are $5.99 at Ulta. The Intense Butter Gloss comes in 12 different shades. The High Voltage Lipstick comes in 22 different shades.

Ulta Haul!

I’m still playing post-Christmas catch up, and along the way I came across three orders I had placed with Ulta that I just have to share about.

Back in November, Ulta ran this awesome deal through ebates! (Which is another little something I MUST do a post on!) The deal was $5 off a purchase of $10 or more PLUS free shipping!!! WHAT?! It was too good of a deal to pass up on!

Here’s the full picture of all three orders:

So, before I go any further, I just want to point out that I spent under $21!

Order #1:

As we all know, I am a HUGE lover of the NYX butter lipsticks! Of course with this awesome deal I had to pick up a few I didn’t have. I decided to purchase Hunk and Licorice. These are two colors that I’d been eyeing but was unsure of because of how bold they are. I recently got more into dark/ vampy colors. These babies certainly do not disappoint!

The total retail value of this order was $11.98. I spent $7.47, plus free shipping and of course three skincare samples.

Order #2:

For this order, I decided to go a little crazy. I purchased the NYX Concealer stick in green. I had read that if you apply that over red marks before a flesh-toned concealer, it actually masks the blemish better (this really works, by the way!). I also decided to try one of the NYX Wicked Lippies in Stone Cold. It’s a really pretty silver color. On your lips, it looks more like just a glittery lipstick. I’m probably going to pair it over a pink lipliner!

The total retail value of this order was $10.98. I spent $6.40, plus free shipping and three fragrance samples.

Order #3:

With this order, I decided to break away from all my NYX purchases and try something new. I purchased four Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizers (by Ulta) in the scent mandarin mint. These were buy one, get one free. I also purchased a Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick (Kate Moss Collection) in the color 113. This lipstick is highly disappointing. The color is AWFUL on me (I guess because I’m so pale!) and the smell is also atrocious. Now, I have a funny story to tell about this order. I actually receive it twice (somehow). I still have no idea. I was only charged once and I didn’t realize I had gotten it twice until about three weeks ago when I found the extra box. So, I actually got eight hand sanitizers and two lipsticks. My second lipstick arrived smashed, so I was able to exchange that in store for a different color (104). I even got paid $2 (and change) for doing the exchange because those two colors are now discontinued!

The retail value of everything I received was $34.98!!! I paid a whopping $6.94! AND was refunded the $2 in store! Plus the free shipping and three ‘variety’ samples.

^ Close up of all the samples I received!

I just have to love Ulta and all of their crazy deals!

Happy shopping!

Ipsy Glam Bag December 2014

Here’s what I received:

  • Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser (Full size – $11.95)
  • CAILYN Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid ($15)
  • NYX Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow ($4)
  • Sexy Hair 450 Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray (Full size – $18)
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 – in – 1 Mascara (Full size – $20)

Beauty Without Cruelty A.H.A. 3% Facial Cleanser

I haven’t used this product yet because I like my Neutrogene face wash that I currently use and I am worried about trying new cleanser because of my sensitive skin. I did just read an awesome blog post earlier today about how natural/ vegan friendly products can be the best for sensitive skin. I think I may try this little guy out soon!

CAILYN Cosmetics Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid

I have use this quite a few times. I really like to layer this over the Be a Bombshell Eye Base (in Submissive) from the November Ipsy Glam Bag. It’s a very pretty neutral to slightly pink color. My only issue with it is the applicator is attached to the cap. It’s kind of like a throw away makeup brush applicator. It left some places looking cakey and others looking like there wasn’t anything there. I prefer to tap some onto my palm and use a shadow brush to apply.

You can purchase your own here!

NYX Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow

Okay… We all know how much I love NYX… Especially their butter lip line!!! This was such a great treat. I already have the butter lip balms in a few other shades. Marshmallow is a little to orangey-yellow for me, but I do love it all the same!

You can purchase your own here in a variety of colors!

Sexy Hair 450 Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray

For whatever reason I misplace this item! I cannot find it anywhere…

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4 – in – 1 Mascara

Love. Love. Love. This is a great lengthening mascara. It’s not clumpy or flakey. It goes on smoothly and lasts through an 8-hour work day!

You can purchase it here!

If you don’t subscribe to Ipsy, you really need to. For $10 this is by far the best bang for your buck! I wish I could just give out these subscriptions to everyone! Just the deluxe sample size of the mascara would have been $10 at Ulta, which makes this bag worth it!

Target Beauty Box – Fall 2014

The Target Beauty Box is very similar to the Walmart Beauty Box. This comes out based on the seasons. This box is $7 (which is $2 more than Walmart). I do prefer Target over Walmart in general so I had to try this box out as well.

Target1 Target2

Here’s what I got:

  • Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray ($6.99)
  • Fekkai Professional Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo ($7.99-19.99)
  • LANEIGE BB Cushion Sample Target Exclusive ($34)
  • NYX Jumpo Eye Pencil in Milk ($4.49)
  • L’Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in Nude Ballet ($7.99)

The retail of this box is a minimum value of $27! This does not include the BB sample because it was only a sample and the full size would double the retail price. On top of all of these goodies, there was a coupon for $3 off a Target Beauty purchase of $15 or more! Yay coupons!!!

L’Oreal Paris Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray

This hairspray is supposed to leave your hair satin-y rather than crunchy and greasy like most hairsprays. I rarely use hairspray so I honestly have not tried this spray.

Fekkai Professional Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo

I don’t use dry shampoo. It creeps me out! My hair just gets too greasy too quickly and I feel like dry shampoo just makes it even worse. So, I won’t be using this either.

LANEIGE BB Cushion Sample

This is a 5-in-1 system that brightens, protects, cools, covers, and prevents shine. My younger sister confiscated this from me before I had the opportunity to try it for myself. She did give me a brief review of it, saying that “it wasn’t all that great”. With a price tag of $34, I won’t be purchasing this product.

NYX Jumpo Eye Pencil in Milk

This is the product that I received that I use the most. It makes an amazing highlighter for the inside corners of your eyes. I put this down and layer other colors of eyeshadow over top of it. It’s a beautiful look. This is definitely something I would recommend purchasing.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in Nude Ballet

I’m not all that fond of liquid lipsticks because they are too much like a gloss, but I do like this product. This color is definitely a nude and works perfectly for toning down brighter lipstick shades. It’s not overly sticky, so I can stand to wear it.

All in all, I have to say that I enjoyed my Walmart box more than my Target box. There was more products from Walmart that I actually have used. However, I will be purchasing both as soon as the seasons change!

October Fab Fav Fives

I know it’s the 11th of November, but better late than never to blog about my five favorite products for the month of October! I had some family matters that needed to be taken care of the past few days. Plus I was celebrating my amazing boyfriend’s 21st birthday! Now let’s get down to business!

My October Fab Fav Fives:

  • Smokey Mountain Lacquers’ Savannah Sunset
  • Lush Cosmetics Stepping Stone Pumice
  • Freeman Beauty Charcoal and Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask
  • Got 2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm
  •  NYX Butter Lipsticks – multi colors

Smokey Mountain Lacquers’ Savannah Sunset

I purchased this amazing glitter topper before realizing how amazing it truly is. I hadn’t planned on using it in nearly every Halloween mani I did this year! This is a definite must have in any nail polish addict’s stash! It is a glitter bomb so you do have to play with getting the big chunks of glitter placed where you want them. For all of my manis pictures above, I did two coats of Savannah Sunsets over a base color.

You can purchase this amazing glitter bomb here. A full sized bottle is $8(15ml) and a mini is $5(8ml)!

Lush Cosmetics Stepping Stone Pumice

Since I work retail, my feet are always killing me. Recently, they have been dry and cracked which causes a LOT of pain. I was in desperate need of trying something new because my usual lotions just weren’t doing the trick. My friend had suggested we take a shopping trip to the King of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia. I had never been there and didn’t know what to expect. When we stumbled upon a Lush store I was overly excited. I hadn’t been to a Lush store in years! We were in the store for nearly an hour checking out all of the different products and I kept coming back to this pumice stone.

First of all, this smells absolutely amazing. It has a beautiful sea salt- ocean kind of smell, which is definitely one of my favorites! I absolutely love this stone. I have been using it after (almost) every shower I’ve taken since purchasing it. It helps to make my feet a lot smoother because it removes all the dead skin that was drying out my feet. I know I will be repurchasing this stone in the future!

You can purchase this stone here for $4.50!

Freeman Beauty Charcoal and Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask

I know I’ve said it before that I don’t really like face masks, but I love this one. My sister had actually purchased it and had an allergic reaction to it. I have sensitive skin as well when it comes to acne, etc. but her skin is easily irritate by things like laundry detergent, so if you have similar allergies take caution when using this mask. This i a fabulous exfoliating mask. I have noticed a distinct difference in my skin since I started using this mask. My skin is unbelievably soft now!

You can purchase this product here for $3.99! Stay tuned for another Freeman Beauty product review!

Got 2b Guardian Angel Flat Iron Balm

This is an awesome flat iron heat protect spray. In the fall and winter I straighten my hair a lot, and this helps to keep my heat damage to a minimum. All you do is spray it on and straighten!

You can purchase this here for $6.99 frm Ulta, or make a trip to your nearest Shoprite!

NYX Butter Lipsticks

I absolutely LOVE these NYX Butter Lipsticks!!! They go on incredibly smoothly. It feels like you aren’t even wearing lipstick at all! My addiction to these started when I received a NYX Butter Lipgloss in an Ipsy bag a few months back. A friend of mine suggested I try these lipsticks and I’ve fallen in love.

The colors from left to right are: Lollies, Fun Size, Taffy, Pops, Fireball, Razzle, and Mary Janes. I’m constantly adding more to my collection… I plan to own them all!

You can purchase yours here for $5.99!

What are some of your favorite products? Recommend me something I will definitely try it out!

September Blue Velveteen

There is currently a LOT of controversy over this box. Blue Velveteen is a brand new subscription box company. They released their first boxes to bloggers only back in August and released their first monthly box in September. The company isn’t very business-like on social media. They let the customers get the best of them. Also, there have been a lot of issues with shipping and products. They advertise the box as five deluxe sample or full sized products. Many people are unhappy with the size of products they received. I must agree that the company needs to re-look advertising strategies because “deluxe sample sized” does not match up with the foil packets I received.

Here is what I received:

  • SkinFood multi toners in Deep Sea Water, Glacier Water, and Thermal Water foil packet samples
  •  Ciate Mini nail lacquer in Risky Business
  • NYX Ultra Pearl loose powder in Lilac
  • Sexy Hair Lavender and Chamomile calming body wash
  • Leave in Cream foil packet sample

SkinFood toners in Deep Sea Water, Glacier Water, and Thermal Water

Sorry for the awful photo! I don’t even know what these are or how to use them because the directions/ ingredients/ etc. are in a different language! I think these are used to hydrate dry skin, but I have no idea! I’m definitely not using this.

Ciate Mini nail lacquer in Risky Business

I love this mini polish! I’ve been wanting to try Ciate polish for a while and hadn’t until receiving this product. I love that it’s blue! This is a simple glitter topper, which I don’t mind at all. This product does go for $8 (or 3 for $18) on the Ciate website (it can be purchased here).

NYX Ultra Pearl loose powder in Lilac

This loose powder is used as an eye shadow. However, I’m much more of a palette kind of girl and loose shadows make me nervous. I’m too clumsy for them! Also, this purple color is definitely NOT me at all! You can find this and many other colors here for 3.

Sexy Hair Lavender and Chamomile calming body wash

Now, I am in LOVE with this body wash! It smells amazing and really does have calming affects. I sleep pretty well after using it! I was told via a fellow Julep Swapper, that this product is being discontinued!!! That makes me so sad! I did however find it on Amazon! I’m currently purchasing as many as I can find!

Leave in Cream

I’ve some how misplaced this sample, which means it wasn’t worth it anyways!

All in all, I wasn’t really impressed. I had planned to take October’s box to give them another shot, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever see it or not… So wish me luck I guess? I wouldn’t recommend trying this box out until the company has grown up a bit.

Ipsy Glam Bag – September 2014

I know I’ve been so M.I.A. lately I haven’t even posted my September Ipsy yet! I’ve been crazy busy with work and other life things! But I’ll be back at it this week, I promise! Okay, so here is my lovely bag!

Street Style Edition

My September Ipsy Glam Bag included:

  • Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/ Crease Duet Brush
  • Nyx Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Rehab
  • Pacifica Natural Waterproof Eye pencil in Fringe
  • Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
  • Cailyn  Art Touch Tinted lip gloss in Basic Instinct

Not my favorite bag ever, but still a pretty good deal for the $10 spent on it!

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush

As soon as I opened my bag to see this brush I was so excited! I received a crown brush a few bags ago and loved it (until my sister stole it!), so I was happy to have another one. I have used this brush pretty much daily since I received my bag!

I would definitely recommend this product! You can purchase it here for $6.99!

NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Rehab

As you know, I love NYX with all my heart! At first I didn’t think I would like the color… It’s a bit darker than I’m used to. But I tried it and love it! The outside/ crease area is where I brushed on this shadow! I love this look and have been receiving lots of compliments on it!

I would recommend this product. You can purchase it here for $4.50!

Pacifica Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil in Fringe

This is one of the easiest eye liners I have ever used. It goes on very smoothly. I’ve worn it by itself a few times to keep a natural look. However, I don’t think it is very long wearing unless you have eye primer on underneath.

I would overall recommend this product. You can purchase it here for $11.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask

Now, I’m not very big into deep conditioners. I’m honestly just too lazy for it! But I did try this one out. I used all of the product and I really didn’t see a difference in my hair… It’s pretty much the same as it was before I used it.

I personally wouldn’t buy this product, so I can’t say I would recommend it.

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in Basic Instinct

I don’t care much for lip glosses and this one isn’t any different. The color wasn’t anything special and I hate the stickiness of glosses.

I wouldn’t recommend this product.

So, three out of five things I enjoyed this bag, which isn’t completely awful! My October bag is already on it’s way so stick around for that review coming up very soon!

I highly recommend joining Ipsy! For $10 a month you get 5 deluxe sample or full sized products! If you would like to join, just click HERE to use my referral code!

#OOTD – Burgundy & Polka Dots

Since my last shopping trip at Kohl’s, I was obviously very excited to wear my new clothes to work… At Kohl’s… Anyways, I decided to show you all what I threw together. It was super quick and easy and something that anyone could pull off! It’ll also work all fall and winter long! All you have to do is add a cardigan and/or a scarf and you’re ready to go!

Here’s the look:

This is the overall final look. I had to tweak it from what I wish I could have worn, but black combat boots just do not love my feet while I’m at work! I had to pair it with my Keds instead, and come Winter time, I’ll be pairing this combo with my Uggs!

First, I started with my LC by Lauren Conrad cream blouse with little black polka dots. I fell in love with this piece when I saw it while shopping and had to buy it. The shirt is long, so I can easily wear it with leggings without my bum showing to the world. This shirt can be found on Kohl’s.com! They have it in a gray color, which I might have to purchase as well!

I paired my lovely top with my burgundy cotton LC by Lauren Conrad leggings! I just love the whole cream/burgundy/black combo! As you can see here, I put on a pair of black moto boots (since my combat boots have disappeared!) I had to change out of these for work, but you get the gist! The leggings can also be found on Kohls.com!

Now for my make-up, I, of course, went with my all time, hands down, absolute FAVORITE lipstick in the entire world. The NYX Butter Lipstick. This was the first time I had decided to wear my “fall” colored lipstick that was recommended to me by one of my blogger (and real life!) friends, Megan from Absolutely Smitten!

ootd7 ootd8

This color is called Pops and I absolutely love it. I will definitely be buying more of these lipsticks, as soon as my obsession with buying nail polish subsides! You can purchase the NYX Butter Lipstick right here (however, I personally buy mine at ulta!)

There you have it! My Outfit of the Day!

Ipsy Glam Bag – August 2014

Beauty Schooled Edition

My August Ipsy Glame Bag included:

  • You’re the Balm Absolute Lip Balm in grape
  • Dr. Brandt Pores no More pore refiner
  • Ubran Decay Perversion mascara
  • Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Due
  • Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil
  • I also received a NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit, which I had redeemed my ipsyPoints for!

I love, love, love, love, love this bag!!!

You’re the Balm Absolute lip balm in Grape

This is the only product I received this month that I didn’t use. I HATE grape flavoring! It makes me feel so sick just smelling it! As soon as I saw the flavoring I instantly passed it along to my sister. She’ll use it and I definitely won’t.

I honestly can’t say if I would or would not recommend this item since I couldn’t even bear to open the lid…

Dr. Brandt Pores no More: Pore Primer

My pores are huge, so this was something very intriguing to me. I decided to try it and I fell in love. It made my face look really smooth under my foundation. Usually my pores stand out. This keeps them hidden well! Plus it’s an all around awesome facial primer.

I would recommend this, although I’m not big on the price tag! You can get it here for $45! I won’t be purchasing because of the price tag, but I’m gonna look for a similar product.

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

I’m a mascara fiend. If I have no other make-up on, I at least need my  mascara! I had been using Lash Domination by Bare Minerals, until I received this bag. Here’s a picture of me, just wearing this mascara (on one eye):

This mascara does make my eyes pop, which is what I look for in a mascara. The one thing I kind of dislike about it though is the brush. It’s kind of too big around. It makes application a little difficult. Also, it’s VERY liquid-y. Of course, I know mascaras are liquid, but this was just a little too wet. I also wore this on one eye and my Lash Domination on the other to compare it. Perversion is much heavier and darker. I couldn’t get a decent picture showing the contrast of the two though. I think that the Perversion one is better for a night time, “I’m going out to a party” kind of look, where the Lash Domination is much better for everyday wear.

I would still recommend this product. You can purchase it here for $22, it includes a deluxe sample of Subversion lash primer.

Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo

I have never been one to wear blush. I naturally get red in the face a little too easily. But since I received this, I decided to give it a go… And I’ve worn it everyday since! All I do is swipe a little bit with a blush brush on to my cheeks and I’m ready to go! It doesn’t over color my cheeks or make it look unrealistic.

I would recommend this product. You can buy it here for $7.95, and it comes in a variety of shades.

Lord & Berry Silk Kojak Kohl Eye Pencil

I have been searching recently for a really great eye pencil. I love eye linger gels and liquids, but when you want a sleek small line, a pencil is the way to go. This pencil is pretty phenomenal. It goes on sleek and stays on all day. It does rub around, but what eye liner doesn’t? It even stays nicely on the water line! It is so hard to find an eye liner that does! I’m definitely impressed with this product.

I would recommend this product. You can buy it here for here, however there isn’t a listing price because their online store is down.

NYX Cosmetics Bronze Smokey Look Kit Palette

Finally, my awesome freebie for using my IpsyPoints! Pretty sure 1,00 points went towards this! (I joined back in April (I think) and skipped a few months, so that’s not bad!) I was in dire need of a new eye shadow palette so I figured, why not try this one from NYX? I love NYX. Anything and everything NYX is amazing. This palette does not disappoint! It has some shimmer shadows and some matte ones. I’ve worn both and love them. I put eye primer under and use the NYX matte finishing spray and have no problem keeping the color on all day!

I would recommend this product. You can buy it here for $12!

So, out of everything I received this month from Ipsy, the only thing I didn’t like was the lip balm, only because of it’s grape flavoring! That’s an awesome win in my book!

I highly recommend joining Ipsy! For $10 a month you get 5 deluxe sample or full sized products! If you would like to join, just click HERE to use my referral code!

Major make-up de-stash

When I was a teenager I was crazy about make-up. I was young and really didn’t know what I was wearing or even how to wear it. I wore bright colors, and tons of blues. At this point in time, my mom was also an Avon cosultant, so I frequently got to try the  new products, and I loved the Mark line of cosmetics. Once senior year hit, however, I became a total bum. I didn’t wear it at all unless I was forced to. Then came college, where I decided I didn’t care what I looked like. I was who I was and make-up wasn’t a priority. About a year ago, I started to wear some concealer and some mascara here and there, because those dark circles under my eyes have grown to massive proportions. Now, I am 21 (and I hate to say it, but nearly 22!), and I still look like I’m 15. I’m not lying! The first time I met my boyfriend’s mom she thought I was underage! And even last week a co-worker told me I could pass for being a freshmen in high school. My sister has recently gotten into make-up, and through her I have learned to love it. It does make me look a little bit older (at least I can pull off being 18 now!) and I’ve found the right balance of natural products that don’t make me look overdone. So, I finally decided that I should get rid of all that random stuff from my high school days. So, here is a photo of what my insanely large stash looked like:

Don’t worry, this wasn’t all sitting on my vanity! Only that gray box, which contains my daily/ newer products. Everything else was shoved in to a drawer somewhere. I’m sure this isn’t even all of it, but that’s most of it at least. So, from all of this junk I got rid of:

  • 1 foundation
  • 2 concealers
  • 3 blushes
  • 7 large eyeshadow palettes
  • 14 eye liners
  • 15 mascaras
  • 21 random jars or sticks of eye shadow
  • 36 lip glosses and lipsticks
  • countless brushes

Now, most of this was random colors that I would never wear, or it was stuff so old that I can’t even remember where it came from. But with most of it I went to pinterest to look up how long make-up should be kept for (and 90% of my stuff didn’t pass the test). I decided to use makeup.com‘s guide.

Like I said, most of it didn’t pass, and if I wasn’t sure I tossed it anyways. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. This brought my make-up collection down quite considerably. I ended up with just have my gray make-up box left! Here’s the final product!

Now that I have it all organized, there was one thing left to do… Figure out a way to make sure that a make-up stash like that doesn’t happen again! I’d seen this idea before, so in no way am I taking credit for it, but here is what I did:

I’m putting pieces of scotch tape on every item and dating it with when I purchased/received it. Although I think I may run out and grab little white dot stickers that are used at yard sales and such, I think they will look cleaner in the long run. This Nyx Butter lipstick was bought for me by one of my best friends about a week ago, hence why it is dated 8/14. For items that I don’t have an exact date for, I am going to put the year on it, so I know when they should be about to expire.

All in all, make sure you de-stash your collection often! Especially when it comes to eye make-up. You don’t want to get an eye infection like pink eye, and NEVER share eye make-up with anyone! That’s just asking for trouble!

I hope this post let you all get to know me and my make-up style a little bit better! See ya’ll next time!
