Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Collection (Kohl’s Exclusive) Product Review

Before I get back to going through my endless amount of sub boxes, I wanted to post one more product review. This is about the new Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Collection which is a Kohl’s exclusive. As soon as I saw this collection I was WOWED and I knew that I NEEDED to purchase it immediately. That’s exactly what I did! As soon as I saw the set make its way onto the floor I picked one up and told my Beauty Advisory that I would be purchasing it at the end of my shift!

The gold packaging on the lipstick is limited edition to this set only. This set is valued at $80 but is priced to sell for $35! Individually, these lipsticks cost $16 each.

From Left to Right – Duchess, Seductress, Vixen, Free Spirit, and CEO. They smell exactly like a Mac lipstick. It’s a very vanilla-y scent that I absolutely love.

These are matte finish lipsticks. Some say that they find them drying. I feel like they are comparable to the Mac lipsticks I own. They go on creamy and stay for probably three to four hours before a reapplication is needed. The only color I am not completely in love with is Free Spirirt (the purple) because I feel like it’s a color I can’t really pull off… Although I will still probably wear it!

This Saturday (March 7th) Kohl’s stores will be offering 10% off Prestige beauty items, this set will be included. So make sure you run to your closest Kohl’s to snatch up these beauties!

Bargain Betty Me’s Black Friday/ Cyber Monday Deals!

Since Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner I figured that I would make a nice little compilation of all of the places I will be browsing, along with all the dirty details of what I’m looking for! I will be updating as I found out more information!

  • Kohl’s – Of course I have to put Kohl’s first! That’s where I will be from 4PM on Thanksgiving until 6AM on Friday morning! You can actually preview the over 500 special Black Friday priced items online! This sale will be running until 1PM on Friday. There is also a 15% off coupon (click here!) which will be good until the 30th (which is Sunday). On top of all of those savings, for every $50 you spend, you will receive $15 in Kohl’s cash, good for almost anything in the store besides the prestige beauty and electronics! There has been no word on Cyber Monday deals yet.
  • Ulta – I really debated adding Ulta to my list. I’m not blown away by the items being featured, but I’m keeping my eyes open for maybe a free shipping code? Or something along those lines. The item that jumps out the most to me is the $12 Lorac Eye Shadow Palettes. If you’re shopping at Ulta don’t forget to scan your Ultamate Rewards card and use your $3.50 off $10 coupon! They have not released Cyber Monday deals yet.
  • Urban Decay – UD will be offering the Ammo Palette, Smoked Palette, and a deluxe sample of Perversion Mascara for $30! I had purchased the Smoked Palette from Ulta for $29, so that’s a steal! UD has also released their Cyber Monday deal which will be the Electric Palette for $35! Also, they will be giving a bonus deluxe sample of the 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Pencil in Black Velvet. On both days, UD will be offering free shipping in the US!
  • LimeCrime – LC does a “Black Wednesday” sale. However, there are rumors about certain items being 60% off!
  • Julep – So far Julep hasn’t come out with a definite sales plan for Black Friday. They did just come out with a promo code today to receive two free nail polishes (including an LE exclusive to this set), a top coat, and a might nail and cuticle serum pen for free with a $25 purchase.

Here are some Indie polish brands I will be looking at:

  • Philly Loves Lacquer – They will be releasing a “Coffee Shop Till You Drop” quartet of minis for $18 on Friday!
  • LynB Designs – Starting on Wednesday and continuing until Tuesday (the 2nd), everything in the store will be marked down, no code required. There will also be a new release of a Holiday Trio set as well as other LynB essentials. Finally, when spending $25, $50, $75, and $100 there will be free mystery limited edition polishes given to customers!
  • Smokey Mountain Lacquers – Starting on Tuesday (the 25th), all full size polishes will be $6, which includes two limited edition polishes, ending on the 2nd.
  • Girly Bits Cosmetics – Starting Friday and ending Monday, all nail lacquer will be 25% off, 25% off DIY supplies, and 50% off “on the way out” products. Also, on Friday only, there will be a free limited edition mystery polish given out – hurry quantities are limited!

Kohl’s Beauty Haul

So I actually purchased these items like two-three weeks ago, but I’ve been so busy I haven’t posted this yet… And because I waited I lost my receipt 😦 So, prices won’t be exact. It’ll all have to be estimates. SO SORRY! Anyways, over labor day weekend, thanks to the lovely ladies in Julep Swap, I found out about an awesome deal through Essie! The deal was if you bought three Essie products, you were to take a photo of your receipt and send it in to receive a free top coat! So, here’s what I got:

I only paid $13 (and change) for all of this stuff!!!

1) Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge – $6: This a beauty blender sponge to smooth lines of concealer and foundation. My sister has one and raved about hers, so I finally caved and got one!

5) Real Techniques Blush Brush – $9: I needed a new blush brush and I love this brand!

#OOTD – Burgundy & Polka Dots

Since my last shopping trip at Kohl’s, I was obviously very excited to wear my new clothes to work… At Kohl’s… Anyways, I decided to show you all what I threw together. It was super quick and easy and something that anyone could pull off! It’ll also work all fall and winter long! All you have to do is add a cardigan and/or a scarf and you’re ready to go!

Here’s the look:

This is the overall final look. I had to tweak it from what I wish I could have worn, but black combat boots just do not love my feet while I’m at work! I had to pair it with my Keds instead, and come Winter time, I’ll be pairing this combo with my Uggs!

First, I started with my LC by Lauren Conrad cream blouse with little black polka dots. I fell in love with this piece when I saw it while shopping and had to buy it. The shirt is long, so I can easily wear it with leggings without my bum showing to the world. This shirt can be found on Kohl’s.com! They have it in a gray color, which I might have to purchase as well!

I paired my lovely top with my burgundy cotton LC by Lauren Conrad leggings! I just love the whole cream/burgundy/black combo! As you can see here, I put on a pair of black moto boots (since my combat boots have disappeared!) I had to change out of these for work, but you get the gist! The leggings can also be found on Kohls.com!

Now for my make-up, I, of course, went with my all time, hands down, absolute FAVORITE lipstick in the entire world. The NYX Butter Lipstick. This was the first time I had decided to wear my “fall” colored lipstick that was recommended to me by one of my blogger (and real life!) friends, Megan from Absolutely Smitten!

ootd7 ootd8

This color is called Pops and I absolutely love it. I will definitely be buying more of these lipsticks, as soon as my obsession with buying nail polish subsides! You can purchase the NYX Butter Lipstick right here (however, I personally buy mine at ulta!)

There you have it! My Outfit of the Day!

Just another Kohl’s haul!

Ah, and here we are, yet again, another Kohl’s haul. I promise this should be the last one for a while… Unless I get something crazy good with my kohl’s cash of course… Last weekend was one of our big associate appreciation shopping weekends (we get extra discounts!) So, I couldn’t stop myself from shopping of course!

Awful picture quality, I know, but it works out in the end! So, here’s what I got:

1) Balm Jovi palette by The Balm Cosmetics – $39.50: Kohl’s recently launched a re-vamped beauty department with brands like The Balm, Lorac, and Cargo. These brands are not eligible for discounts. However, associates do get lucky and get a super duper small percentage off. I actually purchased this as a Christmas gift for my sister. (She already knows she’s getting it, I’m still waiting till Christmas to give it to her though!)

2) LC by Lauren Conrad blouse, white with black polka dots – $13.99: As you should all know by now, I LOVE Lauren Conrad. This top was too cute to pass up and at a great price!

3) LC by Lauren Conrad plain white tee with lace – $13.99: Same as above, it’s super cute!

4) Rock & Republic Sweater – $25.60: I love the R&R brand, but it is soooo expensive! However, for what this item is, I felt like it was a fair price (this will also be a Christmas present, so I won’t say much more!)

5) LC By Lauren Conrad cotton leggings in Burgundy – $9.99: I’ve recently become obsessed with burgundy. I don’t even know why honestly, but it is a gorgeous fall color. Almost half of my current closet can go with these leggings. They’re also not see-through, which is ALWAYS a plus to me!

6) LC By Lauren Conrad cream tank top blouse – $4.00: This was a major steal! It’s a dressy tank top that will look amazing under all of the cardigans I have! Since it is becoming fall, I figured it would be a great addition to my wardrobe.

7) Rock & Republic shimmer v-neck tee in green – $3.00: YAY FOR CLEARANCE BARGAINS (That says it all right there!)

8) LC By Lauren Conrad jean vest – $20.99: I have been searching ALL SUMMER LONG for a denim vest. Tons of places had them, but none of them were something I liked. When we brought out the LC ones a few months ago, I fell in love! But the sale price was always like $40. When I saw them on sale for $21 I just HAD to snag one!

9) Keds in black – $44.99: I’m on my feet all day. They hurt. A lot. I needed new shoes. My previous pair were Keds as well. These particular styles have memory foam souls, which makes my feet feel a little less in pain!

10) SO moccasins in black – $19.99: Yes, we’re already putting out our moccasins and boots! Get over it! I can wear moccasins all day, so I figured I’d snag a pair of these too before we sell out of them all in my size.

Regular price of merchandise = $350.50

Sale price of merchandise = $203.04

What I paid = $109.78

Amount saved = $269.03!!!

Against I emphasis this, CLEARANCE IS YOUR FRIEND!!! Use it wisely!!!

On top of all of this, I got $20 in Kohl’s cash to spend!

Also, if you have not already done so, I suggest signing up for Kohl’s e-mail! There’s almost always a 15% off (I swear!) or sign up for their text alerts (found on the same page as the e-mail sign up). Trust me, you won’t regret the savings you’re going to get!

Keep on shopping!

FINALLY – Full mini haul synopsis!

Okay, so as promised, here is my full mini haul overview, yes it took like five days, I’ve been busy getting ready for my vacation!!!

Again, here’s a picture of the entire purchase!

So, let’s start with my first purchase of the afternoon. It was made at my favorite store – Kohl’s of course! I can NEVER get away from that place I swear!

Kohl’s – Here’s what I got:

1) Jenifer Lopez denim shorts – $13.20: I’ve really become addicted to misses jeans/shorts/etc. Juniors are just SO low-rise and seeing as how I’m almost 22 I feel it was best to start getting into looking like a young woman instead of a little teenager. These shorts are perfect! They come just a little below my belly button and they’re also a bit longer in length so everything stays in place without falling out!

2) Apartment 9 linen shorts – $12.00: I almost bought these shorts a few months ago when they were like $25! So finding them for $12 was definitely a steal! Just like the J.Lo shorts they fit right below my belly button and are still long enough to cover everything. Plus they are super light weight so it’ll keep my cool while I’m camping later this week!

3) LC by Lauren Conrad silver flip-flops – $3.99: Again, this was another item that I almost bought a few months ago for $10. So happy I waited! They’re super cute and can be worn with basically anything and everything. I actually wore them out shopping yesterday! They did start to hurt my feet after a while, but for $4, totally worth it!

Regular price of merchandise = $103.99

Sale price of merchandise = $29.19

What I paid = $6.23

Amount saved = $97.76

HOW?! First I had my associate discount, then I had a coupon for 20% off and finally I had Kohl’s cash for $20! Definitely an awesome haul in my opinion!

Ulta – Here’s what I got:

1) NYX butter lipstick in taffy – $5.99: I am IN LOVE with the NYX butter lipsticks. They are pure perfection. I never wore lipstick until my best friend suggested that I try the butter lipsticks by NYX. This was my second color I bought, and yesterday my friend bought me my third! It’s slowly becoming an addiction. I’ll eventually probably make a post dedicated to this heavenly item!

2) Inkahoots hair ties 3-pack – $4.99: I love the hair tie trend where it looks just like a ribbon. I can wear it as more of a “bracelet” to work without looking like a slob with hair ties everywhere. The colors were a pink and purple tye-dye, green, and black. I love these things and probably own five dozen by now. Also, these ended up being on clearance for less than $1! So, definitely a great purchase!

3) NYX waterproof concealer stick in light – $4.99: I don’t have a perfect face with perfect skin so concealer is s must have! I never tried a NYX version before (I’ve been using an ELF concealer stick that I got for like $3 in Target), but I really wanted to try something different which was hopefully better. When I saw it was waterproof I thought it would be perfect for camping or the beach! So far I’ve used it but not in water so I’m not sure how well it is going to work yet, but hey! It’s always worth a shot!

Regular price of merchandise = $15.97

Sale price of merchandise = $11.95

What I paid = $9.04

Amount saved = $6.93

HOW?! Every single time you go in to Ulta, go on their website. There is ALWAYS a $3.50 off of $10 or more for any non-prestige brand make-up. TRY IT! Also, join their rewards program! I heard 8 points on this visit!

Christmas Tree Shop – Here’s what I got:

1) Over the door mirror – $9.99: I really needed a mirror. I now have a blog so I need a good way to take picture of outfits/ staple pieces/ etc. So I bought this mirror. I then walked in to Target and found the sale thing for $6… But that’s another story.

2) Claw hair clips 5-pack – $1.00: I needed new clips for my hair for when I pull it into a half-up, half-down do. I bought these thinking, ‘aw, they can’t be that bad!’. I was wrong. They’re awful. NEVER purchase these! Within a day one of them was already broken! It shattered while I was trying to remove it all over my boyfriend’s floor. He also later stepped on one of the springs, so I definitely hate these things for hurting him!

Regular price of merchandise = $10.99

Sale price of merchandise = n/a

What I paid = $11.76 (darn sales tax!)

Sadly, nothing was on sale and I didn’t have any coupons 😦

Rue 21 – Here’s what I got:

1) Sublimation hoody duster sweater – $19.99: I LOVE this item. It is SO cute. It’s also light weight so it’s even nice to wear during the summer with a pair of shorts or a dress. I plan on wearing it into the fall with leggings though!

2) Tribal sleeveless duster sweater – $16.99: I also LOVE this! I’m not a huge fan of Rue 21 because their clothing is made cheap. I would definitely caution anyone buying something from Rue. However, These two sweaters were too cute to pass up. I’ve been looking for items like this, and I won’t wear them THAT often (jk I totally will!)

Regular price of merchandise = $45.98

Sale price of merchandise = $36.98

What I paid = $18.48

Amount saved = $27.50

How?! Rue was running an extra 50% of the clearance ticket price of select items. Both of these qualified.

Now here’s the overall breakdown for this trip!

Regular price of all items = $176.93

Sale price of all items = $89.11

What I paid for all items = $45.51

Amount saved = $131.42

This was by far one of the most successful shopping trips EVER.

Keep on shopping!
