Wantable – January 2015

I found a this-is-too-good-to-be-true deal a few weeks back where I was able to get the Wantable Box for only… DRUM ROLL PLEASE… FIVE DOLLARS!!! If you know subscription boxes, you know that this box runs for $36!!! I just could not let that deal go! So, I signed up immediately for both the Makeup and Intimates box!

Yay! They arrived within a week, which is beyond crazy! So here is what I got:

Let’s start with the makeup, shall we?!

I love the eyeshadow. It’s a beautiful green tinted brown. It works well for everyday wear. I’ve been wearing the complexion powder pretty frequently in place of foundation because it is super light. I had been dying to try Frankie Rose for a while, so I loved seeing the eye pencil in my box. It leaves really crisp, clean lines! The Lord & Berry lipstick pencil is gorgeous! It’s a perfect pale pink and is so creamy! I really loved my box! Overall, the retail of this box would have been $81! Since I only paid $5, I literally feel like I stole these products! Even for $36 the value is pretty darn good! I hadn’t planned to continue a subscription with Wantable, but I think I am for the makeup!

I wasn’t exactly “impressed” with my intimates box, but I also didn’t hate it. I really wish I hadn’t received a shapewear tank because that isn’t something I really need. Also, the bra and undies both weren’t made of the best quality, in my opinion. I definitely think I will be sticking with my Victoria’s Secret. This box would retail for roughly $79. I can’t locate an exact price on the tank. I wasn’t planning to keep this box either, but I posted it to the Wantable app and won a free box for the month of February! So I’ll keep it for now. Maybe I’ll like my next box more!

Wantable is semi-customizable. You’re given a bunch of categories and options and they cater the box to your liking!

All in all, I have to say that the makeup box is fantastic. All four products are high end and definitely worth the price tag of $36. As of right now, I wouldn’t recommend the intimates box, but if you’re looking for something different it may be a good starting point!

Target Women’s Winter Beauty Box

Let’s see, third times a charm to get this finished and posted – right?! I hate when life gets in the way of my blog!

Target has a seasonal beauty box. I had received the fall box, and was able to snag the Winter box! This time around, Target put out a Men’s and an all-natural box! I got all three for $20! Not a bad deal!

Here is my review on the Women’s Beauty Box:

  • Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen (Target Exclusive) ($12)
  • Revlon HD Lacquer ($7.99)
  • Hair Food Thickening Solution (Target Exclusive) ($11.99)
  • L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara ($7.99)
  • CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Kit ($4.49)
  • ChapStick Total Hydration Lip Care (Target Exclusive) ($2.99)
  • Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (Target Exclusive) ($23; full size)
  • Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum ($17.49-23.99; full size)
  • 20% off Women’s Apparel purchase coupon
  • $3 off a $15 more Beauty Department purchase coupon

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir

I actually haven’t used this pencil yet, however I did swatch it and it looks like it will blend really well when I do get around to using it!

Revlon HD Lacquer in Garnet

I really love this color. It is a dark pink. However, I’m just not a fan of glosses!

Hair Food Thickening Solution

So far I haven’t used this product either. I haven’t had a hair cut in a while, until yesterday. Now that all my dead ends are gone I might try this little guy out!

L’Oreal Butterfly Intenza Mascara

I haven’t used this yet either. I’m super slacking on the reviews for this box!

CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Kit in Blushing Nudes

I love this little guy. I’ve kept it in my makeup bag for “on the run” makeup looks and love it. The pigmentation is surprisingly impressive. (Or my primer is the bomb – which it is… {Bare Minerals 5-in-1 Eye Primer})

ChapStick Total Hydration 3-in-1 Lip Care in Sweet Peach

I also set this one aside for now. I have enough chapstick open right now!

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

This is a sample size of this product. I actually hadn’t planned on using this until I just looked it up on Target’s website. It is a gel (rather than a cream) which is better for acne control (so I was told). Maybe I will give it a shot after all!

Boots No.7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Anti-Aging Serum

This went into the “save for later” pile!

The retail value of this box is $47.45. I didn’t include the two sample sizes because they don’t have a true “retail value”. I only spent $10 on this box, so I feel as though this was a great box!

I’ll keep everyone posted the next time the Target box goes up!

Ulta Haul!

I’m still playing post-Christmas catch up, and along the way I came across three orders I had placed with Ulta that I just have to share about.

Back in November, Ulta ran this awesome deal through ebates! (Which is another little something I MUST do a post on!) The deal was $5 off a purchase of $10 or more PLUS free shipping!!! WHAT?! It was too good of a deal to pass up on!

Here’s the full picture of all three orders:

So, before I go any further, I just want to point out that I spent under $21!

Order #1:

As we all know, I am a HUGE lover of the NYX butter lipsticks! Of course with this awesome deal I had to pick up a few I didn’t have. I decided to purchase Hunk and Licorice. These are two colors that I’d been eyeing but was unsure of because of how bold they are. I recently got more into dark/ vampy colors. These babies certainly do not disappoint!

The total retail value of this order was $11.98. I spent $7.47, plus free shipping and of course three skincare samples.

Order #2:

For this order, I decided to go a little crazy. I purchased the NYX Concealer stick in green. I had read that if you apply that over red marks before a flesh-toned concealer, it actually masks the blemish better (this really works, by the way!). I also decided to try one of the NYX Wicked Lippies in Stone Cold. It’s a really pretty silver color. On your lips, it looks more like just a glittery lipstick. I’m probably going to pair it over a pink lipliner!

The total retail value of this order was $10.98. I spent $6.40, plus free shipping and three fragrance samples.

Order #3:

With this order, I decided to break away from all my NYX purchases and try something new. I purchased four Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizers (by Ulta) in the scent mandarin mint. These were buy one, get one free. I also purchased a Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick (Kate Moss Collection) in the color 113. This lipstick is highly disappointing. The color is AWFUL on me (I guess because I’m so pale!) and the smell is also atrocious. Now, I have a funny story to tell about this order. I actually receive it twice (somehow). I still have no idea. I was only charged once and I didn’t realize I had gotten it twice until about three weeks ago when I found the extra box. So, I actually got eight hand sanitizers and two lipsticks. My second lipstick arrived smashed, so I was able to exchange that in store for a different color (104). I even got paid $2 (and change) for doing the exchange because those two colors are now discontinued!

The retail value of everything I received was $34.98!!! I paid a whopping $6.94! AND was refunded the $2 in store! Plus the free shipping and three ‘variety’ samples.

^ Close up of all the samples I received!

I just have to love Ulta and all of their crazy deals!

Happy shopping!

Julep – After Christmas Deals (or Steals???)

Before I begin this blog post, I do have a little story behind it. I had originally decided that after Christmas I wasn’t going to spend money… Specifically money at Julep, since I had spent so much on pre-Christmas sales, Christmas presents, holiday needs, etc. I had this crazy idea that my boyfriend was going to propose to me on Christmas. I know, totally cliche and pretty annoying that I thought that, right? Well, wrong. He completely surprised me. Instead of proposing, I got nothing. Absolutely nothing. Of course I got amazing presents from my family and friends, but to not get anything from him, I was pretty upset. Regardless, he completely blew me away and proposed when the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve, which was honestly so much better than a Christmas engagement anyways. I was so upset by my now fiance(!!!) that I ended up breaking the “no-buy” I had placed on myself. I ended up making three separate purchases from Julep… Ooops???!!!

On the 26th, Julep opened up their Savvy Deals section of their website, which discontinued a lot of their holiday sets. I decided to take advantage of it. A very lovely blogger posted in my favorite facebook group (Julep Swap) and put out a bunch of $15 credits that she had received from people using her referral code. I was lucky enough to snag two of those bad boys. All in all, I spent a little over $40 on Julep’s site on the 26th. Here’s what I got!

The first order I placed contained:

Here is the Dancing Lipstick Trio. It is a darker version of the Dashing set. I do love these colors, they’re great for a vampy look. They’re so rich and creamy and they last for a few hours rather than a few minutes like some lipsticks.

After using one of those referral codes, I ended up spending $10 on this order!

The second order I placed contained:

  • Fa La La Nail Polish Trio – From L to R: Charisma, Margot, and Winnie ($30 retail, on sale for $9.99)
  • Confetti Nail Polish Trio – From L to R: Phoebe, Sydney, and Tammi ($30 retail, on sale for $9.99 – out of stock)

I also used a referral code on this order. I got all six polishes for $5!

This is my third (and final) order!

My Savvy Surprise contained – Julep Nail File, Hand and Cuticle Stick ($22 retail), Oxygen Nail Treatment ($18 retail), Mighty Nail and Cuticle Serum ($28 retail) – total retail of my surprise was $68.

I absolutely love the Julep Gel Eye Gliders. They’re very similar to the Urban Decay 24/7 eye liners. They’re smooth and blend well. This set had a variety of colors that I wouldn’t normal use (From top to bottom: Gold Champagne Shimmer, Cosmic Black Shimmer, Emerald Shimmer, Sepia Shimmer, and Violet Shimmer) and it included a sharpener!

For this order I spent $26!

All in all, I spent roughly $40 (due to taxes, boo!). However, the retail value of everything I purchased is nearly $300! That’s about 75% off the retail value!

I just love Julep and their sales!

Julep’s Naughty or Nice Mystery Box

Every month, Julep offers a mystery box for $24.99. The value is usually well over $100. Sometimes they will release a special polish that will be part of that box. Other times they release a certain beauty product that will come with the box.

This time around, the theme Julep went with was “Naughty or Nice”, as this was the December box! Julep posted two brand new polishes, Sue and Patricia, that would be apart of the box. I took a chance on the mystery box and this is what I received!

The total retail value for this box was $154! Paying $24.99 was a steal! Gotta love Julep!

Julep WOW Factor

Another awesome deal that Julep put out right before Christmas was a collab deal that they did with Good Morning America. Julep has partnered with GMA for several deals, and this deal did not disappoint.

Julep and GMA offered a Go Big Volumizing Mascara, Chatoya, and Rochelle (both polishes) for a whopping $12.50!!! Retail of this box is $40!

Of course I couldn’t settle for just the Wow Factor set. I added on the Dashing lipstick trio as well. This was a set I had my eyes on since their release. I ended up paying $18 for almost $100 worth of product!

1 2

I love these lipsticsk. I have used them repeatedly since receiving them! Absolutely beautiful colors! I’m starting to fall more and more in love with Julep’s makeup!

I also really like the Go Big Mascara. It’s not clumpy or flakey. It’s more of a subtle look, so I wear on those “I don’t feel like putting makeup on” days!

Cyber Monday Deals (or Steals???)

Here is the second follow up to my Black Friday/ Cyber Monday guide. These are the two purchases I made on Cyber Monday!

My first purchase was made from Ulta Beauty! I purchased the Lorac Champagne Dreams Eye Shadow Palette for $15, the Smashbox On the Rocks Be Legendary Lipstick Trio for $12, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation for $7.99, and a pack of Ulta’s double tipped cotton swabs for $2.24! I ended up paying $3 out of pocket thanks to gift cards and Ultimate Rewards Points that I had saved up. I also used a $3.50 off $10 coupon. My original subtotal was $38. The retail for these items would have been at least double that. I love the palette and the lipsticks, both LE items for the holidays. I’m very impressed with the performance of both.

CM 12-1

My second purchase was made from Julep! They put out a huge section of sale items with a 50% off code good for those items online. Included in this section were three “Celebration Secret Surprises”. I ordered those three for $16, thanks to the 50% off code. The retail of these 10 polishes is about $140! That means this was a total steal, even if most of these polishes were dupes!

Keep on shopping!

Black Friday Deals (or steals???)

So, back on November 26th (a.k.a. forever ago!), I posted about the Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales I was looking forward to. (Click here to see the post!) I figured I should probably let you guys see what I had actually purchased!

I took advantaged of a deal that Urban Decay was doing for their 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. I love these pencils, they’re really great. Super pigmented and blend really well. The deal was 2 pencils for $20. I ended up purchasing Black Velvet (from the 24/7 Velvet line – as shown above) and Minx. Minx ended up back ordered and I didn’t receive that until about a week before Christmas. I was able to use a discount code on my order as well, so each pencil came out to be about $8. Each pencil by themselves retails for $20!I also received a UD Ultimate Hookup discount card with my order. I have $20 off a single purchase, and I am deliberating what to get! (Probably going with the Naked on the Run!) I saved about $23 on this purchase (and now have $20 to spend)!

BF 11-28

Next up was an order from good old Julep! I had been dying to buy myself this all new holiday palette from Julep. This is the Sweep – Photogenic Eye Palette! This palette is right up my alley with the beautiful neutrals and mix of mattes and shimmers. I can create (and have created) so many different looks with this already! Julep also had a bunch of $1 polish deals. Select polishes would check out at $1 if you used a certain code. I ended up purchasing Alex, which is that beautiful purple polish shown above. The rest of these polishes were part of the four Black Friday Surprises that I purchased. Finally, the Double Step is a foot treatment that is used for dry, cracked feet, which is definitely something I’ve been dealing with lately. This order cost me $58. Retail of it all would have been about $160.

My last order from Black Friday came from BH Cosmetics! This was the first time purchasing anything from BH Cosmetics so I was excited to receive it. I ordered the Wild Child Baked Eyeshadow Palette. Half the reason I bought this palette was because it came in such cute packaging! I actually haven’t used this palette yet so I’m unsure of if I actually like it! I also got a Creme Luxe Lipstick in Foxy Gold. It’s a beautiful brown lipstick. It’s creamy and doesn’t dry your lips. Finally, I purchased a Color Lock Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Dake Rose. I actually haven’t tested this one to see if I like it or not. Retail of all three products would have been $37. I paid $17!

All in all, my total spending for Black Friday was $92. I saved well over $100! I love shopping great sales!

Bargain Betty Me’s Black Friday/ Cyber Monday Deals!

Since Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner I figured that I would make a nice little compilation of all of the places I will be browsing, along with all the dirty details of what I’m looking for! I will be updating as I found out more information!

  • Kohl’s – Of course I have to put Kohl’s first! That’s where I will be from 4PM on Thanksgiving until 6AM on Friday morning! You can actually preview the over 500 special Black Friday priced items online! This sale will be running until 1PM on Friday. There is also a 15% off coupon (click here!) which will be good until the 30th (which is Sunday). On top of all of those savings, for every $50 you spend, you will receive $15 in Kohl’s cash, good for almost anything in the store besides the prestige beauty and electronics! There has been no word on Cyber Monday deals yet.
  • Ulta – I really debated adding Ulta to my list. I’m not blown away by the items being featured, but I’m keeping my eyes open for maybe a free shipping code? Or something along those lines. The item that jumps out the most to me is the $12 Lorac Eye Shadow Palettes. If you’re shopping at Ulta don’t forget to scan your Ultamate Rewards card and use your $3.50 off $10 coupon! They have not released Cyber Monday deals yet.
  • Urban Decay – UD will be offering the Ammo Palette, Smoked Palette, and a deluxe sample of Perversion Mascara for $30! I had purchased the Smoked Palette from Ulta for $29, so that’s a steal! UD has also released their Cyber Monday deal which will be the Electric Palette for $35! Also, they will be giving a bonus deluxe sample of the 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Pencil in Black Velvet. On both days, UD will be offering free shipping in the US!
  • LimeCrime – LC does a “Black Wednesday” sale. However, there are rumors about certain items being 60% off!
  • Julep – So far Julep hasn’t come out with a definite sales plan for Black Friday. They did just come out with a promo code today to receive two free nail polishes (including an LE exclusive to this set), a top coat, and a might nail and cuticle serum pen for free with a $25 purchase.

Here are some Indie polish brands I will be looking at:

  • Philly Loves Lacquer – They will be releasing a “Coffee Shop Till You Drop” quartet of minis for $18 on Friday!
  • LynB Designs – Starting on Wednesday and continuing until Tuesday (the 2nd), everything in the store will be marked down, no code required. There will also be a new release of a Holiday Trio set as well as other LynB essentials. Finally, when spending $25, $50, $75, and $100 there will be free mystery limited edition polishes given to customers!
  • Smokey Mountain Lacquers – Starting on Tuesday (the 25th), all full size polishes will be $6, which includes two limited edition polishes, ending on the 2nd.
  • Girly Bits Cosmetics – Starting Friday and ending Monday, all nail lacquer will be 25% off, 25% off DIY supplies, and 50% off “on the way out” products. Also, on Friday only, there will be a free limited edition mystery polish given out – hurry quantities are limited!

Target Beauty Box – Fall 2014

The Target Beauty Box is very similar to the Walmart Beauty Box. This comes out based on the seasons. This box is $7 (which is $2 more than Walmart). I do prefer Target over Walmart in general so I had to try this box out as well.

Target1 Target2

Here’s what I got:

  • Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray ($6.99)
  • Fekkai Professional Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo ($7.99-19.99)
  • LANEIGE BB Cushion Sample Target Exclusive ($34)
  • NYX Jumpo Eye Pencil in Milk ($4.49)
  • L’Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in Nude Ballet ($7.99)

The retail of this box is a minimum value of $27! This does not include the BB sample because it was only a sample and the full size would double the retail price. On top of all of these goodies, there was a coupon for $3 off a Target Beauty purchase of $15 or more! Yay coupons!!!

L’Oreal Paris Elnett Extra Strong Hold Hairspray

This hairspray is supposed to leave your hair satin-y rather than crunchy and greasy like most hairsprays. I rarely use hairspray so I honestly have not tried this spray.

Fekkai Professional Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo

I don’t use dry shampoo. It creeps me out! My hair just gets too greasy too quickly and I feel like dry shampoo just makes it even worse. So, I won’t be using this either.

LANEIGE BB Cushion Sample

This is a 5-in-1 system that brightens, protects, cools, covers, and prevents shine. My younger sister confiscated this from me before I had the opportunity to try it for myself. She did give me a brief review of it, saying that “it wasn’t all that great”. With a price tag of $34, I won’t be purchasing this product.

NYX Jumpo Eye Pencil in Milk

This is the product that I received that I use the most. It makes an amazing highlighter for the inside corners of your eyes. I put this down and layer other colors of eyeshadow over top of it. It’s a beautiful look. This is definitely something I would recommend purchasing.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lipstick in Nude Ballet

I’m not all that fond of liquid lipsticks because they are too much like a gloss, but I do like this product. This color is definitely a nude and works perfectly for toning down brighter lipstick shades. It’s not overly sticky, so I can stand to wear it.

All in all, I have to say that I enjoyed my Walmart box more than my Target box. There was more products from Walmart that I actually have used. However, I will be purchasing both as soon as the seasons change!
